After reaching the NFC Championship Game for the third consecutive year, the San Francisco 49ers promoted Paraag Marathe from chief operating officer to team president.
Team co-owner Gideon Yu is vacating the role of president, the 49ers announced in a press release.
Replacing Marathe as COO is Al Guido, previously the senior vice president of global sales for Legends, a sports consulting business. He worked with the 49ers and the Santa Clara (Calif.) Stadium Authority as the they teamed to build a new home field for the team.
“As we move closer to the opening of Levi’s Stadium, our organization will continue to evolve and grow,” 49ers chief executive officer Jed York said in a statement. “Gideon, Paraag and Al have been instrumental in making the new stadium a reality, and I couldn’t be more excited about the future of our management team and the 49ers organization. Paraag and Al have developed a tremendous working relationship and I am deeply confident in their leadership.”
According to the 49ers, Yu was instrumental in helping accelerate the timetable of the opening of Levi’s Stadium from 2015 to 2014.
