All 13 free agents who received qualifying offers from their former team turned down the bids at Monday’s deadline.
In order to maintain the right to draft-pick compensation should the player sign elsewhere, the teams offered one-year, $14.1 million contracts last week.
Many of the top free agents on the market were among those declining the qualifying offers. The list included three players from the World Series champion Boston Red Sox — center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, first baseman Mike Napoli and shortstop Stephen Drew.

–Ellsbury batted .298 with nine home runs and 53 RBIs.
–Napoli batted .259 with 23 home runs and 92 RBIs.
–Drew batted .253 with 13 home runs and 67 RBIs.
–New York Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano batted .314 with 27 home runs and 107 RBIs.
–Yankees pitcher Hiroki Kuroda went 11-13 with a 3.31 ERA.
–Yankees outfielder Curtis Granderson batted .229 with seven home runs and 15 RBIs.
–St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Carlos Beltran batted .296 with 24 home runs and 84 RBIs.
–Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz batted .269 with 27 home runs and 76 RBIs. Cruz served a 50-game suspension from Major League Baseball for violating the league’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. The ban stemmed from the league’s investigation of South Florida anti-aging clinic Biogenesis.
–Cincinnati Reds outfielder Shin-Soo Choo batted .285 with 21 home runs and 54 RBIs.
–Cleveland Indians pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez went 13-9 with a 3.30 ERA.
–Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann batted .256 with 20 home runs and 57 RBIs.
–Seattle Mariners designated hitter Kendrys Morales batted .277 with 23 home runs and 80 RBIs.
–Kansas City Royals pitcher Ervin Santana went 9-10 with a 3.24 ERA.
Last year, in the first year of the current free agent system, all nine players who received qualifying offers declined.
