Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott and two teammates sustained minor injuries Monday when they were attacked in Panama City Beach, Fla., the university told the (Jackson, Miss.) Clarion-Ledger.
According to school spokesman Bill Martin, Prescott, backup quarterback Damian Williams and defensive lineman Torrey Dale were the subject of an unprovoked attack by a group of men while attending a Waka Flocka concert.
Published photos showed Prescott with facial cuts, but reportedly none of the three Bulldogs players was badly injured and none went to a hospital.
Panama City Beach police told media outlets Monday that no arrests were made.
Prescott tweeted, “Thanks for all the Concerns and Prayers! I’m okay and ready to get back to Starkville. Ignorance happens! Be safe on Spring Break!”
Dale posted on Twitter, “It’s what comes with the game, we wear the big name:..#itsexpected we’re good though”
Prescott announced in January that he would return to school this fall for his senior season even though NFLDraftScout.com projected him as a second-round pick this year. The 6-foot-2, 230-pounder led the Bulldogs to the No. 1 ranking in the nation for five weeks this season and finished the year with 3,449 yards passing, 27 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He added 986 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.
