Georgia was pegged a 24.5-point favorite going into its game against Mississippi State in Athens and that was understandable.
The hometown Bulldogs had lost only to No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Florida and were nationally ranked. The visiting Bulldogs had lost all but two games, including four consecutive losses after the early win over LSU.
It should be a blowout for the home team.
Apparently everybody forgot to inform the visitors.
Mississippi State scored first, held three first half leads and were tied with Georgia at halftime and after three quarters.
But the only score of the final quarter belonged to Georgia.
The heroes were Kearis Jackson and J.T. Daniels.
Jackson, a sophomore wide receiver, pulled in a touchdown pass from J.T. Daniels, a transfer quarterback from Southern Cal who was starting his first game as a Bulldog. The 40-yard scoring toss gave Georgia a 31-24 lead and was the game-winner.
Jackson’s touchdown catch is this week’s U.S. Farm Raised Catfish “Catch of the Week.”
For the game, Daniels threw for 401 yards and four scores. Jackson had four catches for 55 yards, including the fourth quarter touchdown.
Georgia needed every bit of that since they were held to only eight rushing yards for the night.
Remember … for the tailgate tent or the pre-game party, U. S. Farm-Raised Catfish is always “the winning catch.”
The Catfish Institute, or TCI, was formed in 1986 by catfish farmers and feed manufacturers to raise consumer awareness of the positive qualities of U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish. Since its formation, U.S. per capita consumption has more than doubled.
U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish is a sustainable and environmentally friendly seafood product. The National Audubon Society, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Environmental Defense all recommend U.S. Farm-Raised Catfish as a safe environmental choice. To find out more, visit www.uscatfish.com.
