The Southeastern Conference will distribute an NCAA-record $435 million, with each of the 14 schools receiving $31.01 million, ESPN.com reported Friday.
Each SEC member will receive an increase of more than $10 million per school from last year’s payout of $20.9 million per school, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
The SEC made $455 million in total revenue based on the revenue-sharing plan for the 2014-15 fiscal year, which ends Aug. 1, but $20 million was retained by institutions that participated in bowl games last season.
The jump in revenue was, in large part, because of the SEC Network, which is currently in its ninth month.
The Big 12 will distribute “north of $250 million,” sources told ESPN. The Big Ten distributed $338.9 million during the 2013-14 fiscal year, according to IRS filings.
In addition, at the SEC’s spring meetings in Destin, Fla., the league increased the fine for schools rushing the field to $50,000 for a first offense. The previous amount was $5,000.
