It’s not often that a true freshman makes an immediate impact on his team, especially if the team is a national championship contender.

Ryan Williams has already proven himself to be the exception.

The first-year wide receiver from Saraland in south Alabama, was outstanding against the Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday in Tuscaloosa. He hauled in six passes for 177 yards (averaging 29.5 yards per catch) including a 75-yarder with just over two minutes remaining to give the Crimson Tide a 41-34 come-from-behind win over the Bulldogs.

For his performance, Ryan Williams has been recognized as winner of the Academy Sports Award, Player of the Week.

Williams’ game-winning reception is not his only impact moment this season. He leads the team with 462 receiving yards and five touchdowns and with his elusive running ability, is already recognized as one of college football’s most prolific playmakers.
