Hawaii coach Nick Rolovich said Monday that junior wide receiver Melquise Stovall has been removed from the program, effective immediately.
“There are certain expectations required of a football student-athlete here,” Rolovich said. “… We hold all of our student-athletes to these standards and expect them to represent our football program to the highest degree. We wish Melquise the best as he moves forward.”
No further details were provided about the reason for Stovall’s dismissal.
He caught three passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday’s 56-26 loss to Air Force.
Stovall appeared in five games this season for the Rainbow Warriors, catching 18 passes for 248 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 14 kickoffs for 348 yards (27.4 average) and six punts for 28 yards (4.7 average).
