COACH: Don Treadwell — At Miami and overall: 4-8, 1 year
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR: John Klacik
DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR: Jay Peterson
LAST LEAGUE TITLE: 2010
LAST BOWL: 2010, GoDaddy.com
RETURNING STARTERS: 17; 8 offense, 7 defense, kicker, punter
PLAYERS TO WATCH: QB Zac Dysert, WR Nick Harwell, WR Andy Cruse, DE Jason Semmes, DT Austin Brown, CB Dayonne Nunley, S Pat Hinkel
PRIMARY STRENGTHS: Dysert and Harwell have great chemistry and form a lethal duo in Miami’s spread offense. Dysert is one of the nation’s most unheralded quarterbacks, while Harwell is a dynamic player capable of taking over a game. A revamped defensive coaching staff brought energy and enthusiasm that might help a group with seven returning starters.
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS: The offensive line gave up 47 sacks in 2011. There’s been some movement along the line during the spring; whether that translates into a more cohesive unit could determine the success of Miami’s season. The schedule is brutal, with five of the first seven games on the road.
