Oklahoma quarterback Trevor Knight will not play in Saturday’s game against Texas Tech because of a neck injury, KFOR-TV in Oklahoma City reported Thursday.

The school has made no official announcement regarding Knight’s availability for Saturday’s game, but coach Bob Stoops is expected to update Knight’s status when he meets with the media Thursday afternoon.

According to the report, redshirt freshman Cody Thomas will make his first start at quarterback for the Sooners. His numbers are less than spectacular. Thomas is 5-for-16 for 50 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in his four appearances this season.

Knight had to be carted off the field last Saturday after taking a big hit from Baylor’s Shawn Oakman. Knight reportedly has not practiced this week, and was seen wearing a neck brace.

Tight end Blake Bell, who was a quarterback last season, is expected to be Thomas’ backup on Saturday.
