Virginia quarterback Greyson Lambert is transferring to Georgia to compete for the starting job.
Lambert, who is from Jesup, Ga., confirmed the move to The Associated Press and Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Wednesday. He had announced his intent to transfer this spring after losing his starting position at Virginia to Matt Johns.
Lambert started nine games for the Cavaliers last season, throwing for 1,632 yards, 10 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
A graduate transfer, Lambert will be eligible immediately at Georgia and also will have two years of eligibility remaining. He will battle Brice Ramsey and Faton Bauta.
