Quarterback Austin Burton said Wednesday that he is departing UCLA and entering the transfer portal.

Burton participated with the team on Tuesday during the opening day of spring drills.

“Over the past three years I have had the privilege of attending and representing UCLA,” Burton said in a statement. “… After a lot of prayer, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I will be graduating soon with two years of immediate eligibility remaining.”

Burton saw action in six games last season and was 44-of-64 passing for 365 yards and one touchdown. He made his lone college start against Oregon State on Oct. 5 and completed 27 of 41 passes for 236 yards and one touchdown in a 48-31 loss.

Junior-to-be Dorian Thompson-Robinson passed for 2,701 yards and 21 touchdowns and against 12 interceptions last season in his second campaign as the starter.

The Los Angeles Daily News reported that Burton is the 15th UCLA player to enter the transfer portal since the conclusion of last season.

UCLA went 4-8 last season and is 7-17 in two seasons under coach Chip Kelly.
