Nebraska running back Ameer Abdullah did not practice during the Cornhuskers’ bye week because of a sprained knee, but coach Bo Pelini thinks Abdullah will probably play in Saturday’s game against Wisconsin.

“We’ll see on Saturday,” Pelini said Monday, “but I would anticipate him playing.”

Nebraska, Wisconsin and Minnesota are tied atop the Big Ten West with 4-1 conference records, so Saturday’s game is pivotal.

If Abdullah plays it will also provide a matchup of standout running backs, with Wisconsin featuring Melvin Gordon, who leads the nation with 166.8 rushing yards per game. Abdullah ranks sixth at 138.9 yards per game.

Nebraska is ranked No. 11 in this week’s Associated Press poll, and Wisconsin is No. 22.
