Baylor coach Art Briles said on Monday that quarterback Seth Russell is expected to make a full recovery after having season-ending neck surgery on Friday.
Russell is out of the hospital after undergoing a procedure to repair damage to his cervical vertebra.
Russell was injured on Oct. 24, when he broke a bone in his neck during a 45-27 win over Iowa State.
Russell said on social media that the surgery went well.
It’s unclear if or when Russell, a junior, will be able to resume his football career.
Russell currently leads the nation in passing efficiency, and has thrown 29 touchdown passes with just six interceptions for the Bears, who are unbeaten and ranked No. 2.
Freshman Jarrett Stidham will take over as Baylor’s starting quarterback.
