Shawn Poindexter – Noteworthy
Despite Arizona Football not having any players expected to be high draft picks, more than half of NFL teams had scouts on Pro Day at Arizona Stadium. Wide receiver Shawn Poindexter was one of the seniors working out for prospective teams. “I performed pretty well,” said Poindexter. I missed my forty (yard dash time) but it’s all good. I made up for it with my routes and catching the ball. They were impressed. Just waiting on phone calls now, I guess.” Poindexter and defensive tackle P.J. Johnson are considered the two Wildcats who have the best shot at being drafted. Tucson native Demetrius Flannigan-Fowles says he’ll join another league if the NFL ins’t interested. “I follow it all,” said Flannigan-Fowles. “I’m just trying to play football whether I get drafted, I don’t get drafted, or go to another league. I’m just trying to play football.” The NFL draft is from Thursday, April 25th through Saturday, April 27th. – KGUN TV9 News
