September 05 The North Carolina Tar Heel’s defense came into their season opening game against South Carolina with a chip on its shoulders after finishing last season ranked as one of the worst defenses in the country. With something to prove, the UNC defense sacked Gamecock quarterback Spencer Rattler nine times, and held the South Carolina offense to -2 yards rushing for the game on their way to a 31-17 victory in the Duke Mayo Kick-off Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC.
