Offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr. is leaving Florida Atlantic to take the same position at South Florida, FAOwlAccess.com reported Monday.
The 26-year-old son of former Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis would be the second Owls coordinator to join new USF coach Jeff Scott.
Defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer took the same job with the Bulls on Sunday, one day after FAU’s season ended with a 52-28 win against SMU in the Boca Raton Bowl.
Scott, a longtime assistant under Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, was hired by South Florida on Dec. 9. He replaces Lane Kiffin, now the head coach at Ole Miss.
Florida Atlantic (11-3) won the Conference USA title in 2019 with Weis’ offense averaging 448.6 yards of offense and 36.4 points per game.
Weis previously served as an offensive analyst with the Atlanta Falcons (2017) and at Alabama (2015-16).
