Tennessee starting quarterback Justin Worley will miss the rest of the season because of a shoulder injury that will require surgery, coach Butch Jones said Tuesday.

The injury prevented Worley, a senior, from playing in the past two games. He started Tennessee’s first seven games and was 157-for-252 for 1,579 yards with 12 touchdown passes and eight interceptions.
In a statement, Jones said Worley will have surgery to repair a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder.
“Justin Worley is out for the rest of the year,” Jones said. “He will undergo surgery, but he is still going to be around the team. And now he goes from Player Worley to Coach Worley.”

The surgery will end Worley’s college career. It’s the second year in a row Worley’s season ended early because of an injury.

Sophomore Joshua Dobbs started in Worley’s place last week and helped Tennessee rally for a 45-42 overtime victory at South Carolina.

The Vols are 4-5 overall and 1-4 in the Southeastern Conference.
