Laquon Treadwell, Mississippi’s leading wide receiver, is expected to need four months to recover from a broken leg and dislocated ankle, coach Hugh Freeze said Monday.
Treadwell was injured in Mississippi’s 35-31 loss to Auburn on Saturday as he attempted to score a go-ahead touchdown with 1:30 left. He was tackled from behind, and his left leg and ankle were bent awkwardly.
The sophomore had surgery late Saturday night to repair a broken fibula and the ankle.
Freeze said he hopes Treadwell can return for spring practice.
Treadwell caught 10 passes for 103 yards and a touchdown Saturday and finished his season with 48 catches for 632 yards and five touchdowns.
