Clemson QB Watson out five weeks

Clemson starting quarterback Deshaun Watson will have surgery on Monday to repair his injured hand and is likely to be sidelined for five weeks, the Greenville (S.C.) News reported.

Watson, a freshman, suffered a broken finger in Saturday’s 23-17 victory over Louisville.

Cole Stoudt will become the Tigers’ starting quarterback in Watson’s absence.

Stoudt began the season as Clemson’s starter, but was replaced by Watson during the Florida State game on September 20.

Watson might be able to return for a late-season game or a Clemson bowl game.
