*Aaron Jones – Noteworthy – Injury
RB Aaron Jones was placed on injured reserve with a right knee injury, the team announced. Jones sustained the injury during Sunday’s 24-17 setback to the Chicago Bears at Soldier Field. The loss eliminated the Packers (5-8-1) from postseason consideration. Per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Jones’ leg was straight at the moment of impact on a tackle.
*Kenny Clark – Noteworthy – Injury
DT Kenny Clark missed the Chicago game with an elbow injury and disputed a report that he will be placed on injured reserve.
He said, “If I’m available to play and Doc clears me, then I’m for sure 100 percent going to play. As long as Doc says I’m good and he’s confident in me going out there and playing with it, I’m playing.” The Packers’ other starting defensive linemen, Mike Daniels and Muhammad Wilkerson, already are on injured reserve.
Aaron Rodgers – Noteworthy – Injury
QB Aaron Rodgers, who has been dealing with a knee injury all season and injured his groin in the first half of last week’s loss at Chicago, is expected to be the starting quarterback against the Jets.
He plans to play even though Green Bay is eliminated from playoff consideration. Rodgers said, “I think it’s a lot about leadership. If I want to be listened to and followed and looked up to, how could I stand here and say that these games that don’t matter for playoffs, I’m going to cash it in? That’s just not the way I lead, and I’m super competitive, and I want to be out there with the guys, and I look forward to being out there.”
Aaron Rodgers – Noteworthy – Injury
QB Aaron Rodgers (groin) practiced on Wednesday, but interim head coach Joe Philbin would not say if he will play Sunday against the New York Jets.
“I’m hopeful he’s going to practice, and I’m hopeful he’s going to play,” Philbin said, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, who added that Rodgers was on the field for the open portion on practice on Wednesday and took the initial reps with the first-team offense. There has been some speculation in the media that since the Packers (5-8-1) have been eliminated from playoff contention, they might shut Rodgers down for the last two games of the season if he is not 100 percent healthy.
Bryan Bulaga – Noteworthy
T Bryan Bulaga returned to practice on Wednesday. He has been dealing with a knee injury. “I feel pretty good about it,” Bulaga said.
“Still taking it day by day and kind of worked today and see how it feels tomorrow and work again tomorrow and see how it feels Friday and work again Saturday. So we’ll see. Day by day. It felt good today and wake up and check in with the guys tomorrow and see how it feels.”
