The Kansas City Chiefs announced Monday that they signed free agent offensive tackle J’Marcus Webb.

The deal is for one year, according to reports.

The former Minnesota Viking worked out for the Chiefs in March but decided to explore other options. After visits with the Carolina Panthers and Vikings last week, Webb settled on the Chiefs.

Webb, 25, spent last season with the Vikings after getting released by the Chicago Bears. Webb played just 108 snaps over eight games, including one start.

The former seventh-round draft pick spent three seasons with the Bears, including his final two as a starter. In all, he has played 54 games (45 starts) at both tackle positions.

The Chiefs can use Webb after losing tackle Branden Albert and guards Jon Asamoah and Geoff Schwartz via free agency.

Webb might not start, but he adds versatility and depth to the Chiefs’ line.
