Quarterback Colin Kaepernick and linebacker Aldon Smith were present as the San Francisco 49ers began their offseason workouts Monday.
The two high-profile players were involved in separate highly publicized offseason incidents recently.
The 49ers official website posted a slideshow of several players working out Monday, Kaepernick among them. CSN Bay Area reported Smith was present as well.
Because the workouts are private and there is no media availability, the team does not confirm any participation.
Contract talks are on hold between the 49ers and Kaepernick, according to reports last week.
The 49ers are putting off negotiations while police investigate an incident involving a woman earlier this month at a Miami hotel that may have involved Kaepernick and two other NFL players.
The Miami Police Department confirmed that Kaepernick, 49ers wide receiver Quinton Patton and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette were named in a report filed April 4.
Kaepernick enters the final year on his contract that is scheduled to pay him $1,073,000. He is reportedly seeking a long-term deal worth up to $20 million per year.
Kaepernick threw for 3,197 yards last year with 21 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He also rushed for 524 yards with four TDs in leading the 49ers to the NFC championship game.
Smith was arrested April 13 at Los Angeles International Airport for a fake bomb threat. He has yet to be formally charged in the case. Smith has an April 29 court date in Santa Clara County, Calif. on felony gun charges and a drunken driving charge.
Last September, Smith was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence following an accident.
Smith also faces three felony counts of possessing illegal assault rifles, which were found after a June 2012 party at Smith’s San Jose home. Smith sustained stab wounds at the party, and two partygoers were wounded by gunfire from alleged gang members.
Smith had 19.5 sacks in 2012, but slipped to 8.5 sacks in 2013, when he played in 11 regular-season games.
Cornerback Chris Culliver, who was arrested last month on hit-and-run and weapons charges, was also shown in the slideshow of players working out Monday.
ESPN.com reported that running back LaMichael James is not attending the workouts. He is reportedly on the trade market and is working on his own in Texas.
