Joe Dumars is expected to resign as general manager of the Detroit Pistons.
Dumars, who played for the franchise in a backcourt with Isiah Thomas, became president of basketball operations in 2000 and has been part of the Pistons for 29 years.
Praised for his early work as a roster architect after the team lost centerpiece Grant Hill in Dumars’ first offseason in the front office, recent moves have not panned out. The Pistons were 28-49 entering Tuesday night.
—Defensive specialist Ronnie Brewer will rejoin the Chicago Bulls for the rest of the season.
Brewer played for the Bulls in 2011-12 and was released by the Houston Rockets in February. Chicago’s roster has been one player short even after picking up Jimmer Fredette.
