A day after signing free-agent offensive lineman Gabe Carimi, the Atlanta Falcons released offensive lineman Garrett Reynolds.

His agent, Chad Speck, announced earlier Tuesday on Twitter that the team had informed Reynolds of the decision.

Reynolds, who started a two-year, $2.587 million contract in 2013, started a career-high 10 games for the Falcons last season and played in 15 games. The move will open up more than $1.3 million in cap space for the Falcons next season.

The 6-foot-7, 310-pound Reynolds was a fifth-round draft pick by the Falcons in 2009 out of North Carolina. He started 23 games and played in 42 in five seasons.

The Falcons signed Carimi, a free agent, on Monday. The 6-7, 316-pound Carimi was a first-round draft pick by the Chicago Bears in 2011. He was traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before the 2013 season and he played in 14 games, including three starts, this past season.
