Michael Brantley and the Cleveland Indians avoided arbitration in a big way.
The left fielder agreed to a four-year, $25 million contract that includes an $11 million option for 2018, multiple media outlets reported Monday nigth.
When the sides exchanged figures in arbitration last month, Brantley asked for a $3.8 million salary for 2014, and the team countered with a $2.7 million offer.
Brantley, 26, set career highs last season with 10 homers, 73 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. He batted .283 with a .332 on-base percentage and a .396 slugging percentage, all better than his career hitting line of .277/.320/.382.
Over 151 starts in left field last year, Brantley recorded 11 assists and did not commit an error.
Two other Indians have pending arbitration cases. Right-hander Justin Masterson is seeking $11.8 million, while the team offered $8.05 million. Right-hander Josh Tomlin wants a $975,000 salary. The Indians proposed an $800,000 contract.
