Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan talked with Houston Astros owner Jim Crane and several other front office officials on Tuesday, ESPN.com reported.

Crane told the Houston Chronicle last week that he wanted to meet with Ryan, who gave up the position of chief executive officer with the Texas Rangers in October, and discuss whether there was a potential job that could fit Ryan in the Astros organization.

Ryan said recently that he was interested in getting back in the game if anyone had interest in him.

Ryan turns 67 years old on Friday. His older son, Reid, became Houston’s president of business operations last year.

Ryan joined the Rangers in early 2008 as president and added the title of CEO in 2011. He helped oversee the Rangers’ rebuilding efforts that eventually led to World Series appearances in 2010 and 2011. Ryan was a member of the ownership group that purchased the club out of bankruptcy court in 2010. His ownership stake was bought out last year.
