With the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks headed to Super Bowl XLVIII, the NFL needs to name replacements for players for those teams who were scheduled to play in next Sunday’s Pro Bowl.
Some of those replacements were named Sunday.
The Arizona Cardinals announced that wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald was named as a replacement for Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. Fitzgerald had 82 catches for 954 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2013. This is eighth Pro Bowl selection.
Dallas Cowboys tight end Jason Witten will replace Broncos tight end Julius Thomas. It will be Witten’s ninth Pro Bowl in 11 years.
New England Patriots kicker Stephen Gostkowski will replace Denver’s Matt Prater. This will be Gostkowski’s second Pro Bowl.
Also, Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris, who rushed for 1,275 yards this season, has been selected to take the place of Seattle’s Marshawn Lynch. This will be Morris’ first Pro Bowl.
Several other replacements still need to be named for players from the Broncos and Seahawks.
