In the wake of guard Nick Young’s one-game suspension for throwing a punch, the Los Angeles Lakers signed guard Manny Harris to a 10-day contract on Thursday.
Harris is leading the NBA Developmental League this season in scoring, averaging 30.6 points per game, with the Lakers’ Los Angeles D-Fenders affiliate. He also ranks sixth in the league in steals with 2.1 per game.
Young will miss Friday night’s game against the Boston Celtics. He was involved in an altercation on Wednesday night with the Phoenix Suns after a hard foul during the second quarter. Suns center Alex Len was ejected from the game, but Young punched Phoenix guard Goran Dragic.
Harris played in 80 NBA games and started 20 during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons with the Cleveland Cavaliers. He averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Last season, he was with Azovmash Mariupol of the Ukranian Superleague.
