Hue Jackson is expected to replace Jay Gruden as offensive coordinator of the Cincinnati Bengals, a move that is likely to be official by the end of the week.

Gruden was named head coach of the Washington Redskins on Thursday.

Jackson, the Bengals running backs coach and special assistant to head coach Marvin Lewis, has rich experience as a play-caller at Southern Cal and Cal and was offensive coordinator of the Redskins (2003), Atlanta Falcons (2007) and Oakland Raiders (2010).

Jackson also was head coach of the Raiders in 2011, when Oakland acquired Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer for multiple draft picks.

The Bengals were 10th in total offense in 2013.

Jackson worked with Lewis on the staff of the Redskins in 2002 and was wide receivers coach for the Bengals from 2003-05.

Cincinnati could need a replacement for defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, a leading head coach candidate who is reportedly emerging as the top choice of the Minnesota Vikings.
