Report: Seahawks to sign CB Cox

Perrish Cox is expected to sign with the Seattle Seahawks, who need the veteran cornerback to get up to speed quickly.

With two cornerbacks, Brandon Browner and Walter Thurmond, not expected to be available due to league discipline, depth is a worry for the 10-1 Seahawks. Seattle is returning from a bye week with the New Orleans Saints (9-2) coming to town for a Monday night game this week.

Browner did not play last week due to a groin injury, and he was not scheduled to return for several more weeks. But multiple reports point to a season-long suspension for Browner.

Likewise, Thurmond is expected to be suspended. He will miss the final four games of the regular season for a suspension for a violation of the substance-abuse policy.

Cox would be the fourth healthy cornerback on the roster. The Seahawks could also add a fifth to prepare for Drew Brees, who has 28 touchdown passes and a 68.3 completion percentage.

Cox was waived by the San Francisco 49ers earlier this month.
