Los Angeles Lakers center Chris Kaman injured a finger while sledding in China but is not serious.
The Lakers are in China to play two preseason games against the Golden State Warriors. While visiting the Great Wall of China, players and staff took a toboggan down a slope at the Mutianyu portion of the wall.
Kaman sped down the slippery track unharmed, but was eventually barged into by teammate Shawne Williams, according to the Los Angeles Times. Kaman instinctively put out a hand as he saw Williams careening toward him and hurt one of his fingers.
Kaman said he expects to play Tuesday.
—New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony said he took a “huge risk” when he decided not to have shoulder surgery, but is “ecstatic” with his results through rehabbing, ESPNNewYork.com reported.
Anthony said Saturday night he played with a torn rotator cuff and partially torn labrum in his left shoulder late last season.
Instead of having surgery to repair the problem, Anthony opted for intensive rehab.
Anthony said doctors told him that he would have missed the beginning of this season if he had offseason shoulder surgery.
—Utah rookie point guard Trey Burke suffered a broken finger on his right hand during a preseason loss to the Los Angeles Clippers Saturday night.
The No. 9 pick in the 2013 NBA Draft out of Michigan is out indefinitely. The finger will be re-evaluated after he visits a specialist and undergoes more tests on Monday.
