
Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert was ruled out of Sunday’s Week 2 game at Oakland with a lacerated throwing hand.
Chad Henne, who started six games for the Jaguars last season and has 27 career starts, is expected to be get the call against the Raiders (0-1).
Gabbert required 15 stitches after cutting his throwing hand on a defender’s helmet. Gabbert, who missed most of preseason with a thumb injury incurred in a similar mishap, Aug. 17, said Sunday his thumb was fine. As for his hand and next week’s game, Gabbert expects to be ready. Henne replaced Gabbert after he was 16-of-35 passing for 121 yards with two interceptions.
Henne was 3 of 6 for 36 yards Sunday in the Jaguars 28-2 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs.
