ARKANSAS (1-0)

Game: Arkansas 34, Louisiana-Lafayette 14. The Razorbacks amassed 522 yards in total offense and held the Ragin’ Cajuns to just 274 for the day. After the visitors tied the game a 7-7 early in the second quarter, the Razorbacks scored 20 unanswered points. After the Cajuns closed it to 27-14 just past the midpoint of the third quarter, sophomore RB Jonathan Williams scored the clincher on a 75-yard run on Arkansas’ first play from scrimmage on the ensuing series.

Takeaway: After the aerial fireworks of recent seasons, Arkansas unleashed a potent rushing attack on the Cajuns.

With 151 and 131 yards, respectively, Williams and freshman RB Alex Collins became the first pair of Razorbacks to top the 100-yard mark rushing in the same game since 2007 when Darren McFadden and Felix Jones did it against South Carolina.

Collins, rated among the nation’s top recruits, became the first Arkansas freshman to top the century mark in his collegiate debut since Jones had 137 against Missouri State in 2005.

— Sophomore QB Brandon Allen threw for 203 yards and three touchdowns in his second career start. He completed 15 of 22 passes and wasn’t intercepted.

— Senior PK Zach Hocker kicked two field goals and three PATs for a total of nine points, making him the school career scoring leader with 296 points. Bill Burnett held the former record of 294.

Next: Vs. Samford (at Little Rock), Sept. 7.
