The Oakland Raiders, whose lease with O.co Coliseum is up after the 2013 season, reportedly are interested in building an $800 million, 50,000-seat stadium near the site of the Coliseum.
The Raiders propose paying $300 million toward the stadium, with the NFL adding $200 million and the remaining $300 million being covered by taxpayers, according to the Oakland Tribune.
“Both sides are conducting studies to determine the demand and financial viability of the project,” the team said in a statement to the Tribune.
Owner Mark Davis said last month that he wants to keep the team in the Bay Area. The Raiders are finishing a lease extension signed in 2009.
