Right-handed relievers Grant Balfour of the Oakland A’s and Greg Holland of the Kansas City Royals, Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Chris Tillman, Atlanta Braves catcher Brian McCann, Pittsburgh Pirates right-handed relief pitcher Mark Melancon and San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo were officially named All-Stars on Sunday.

Balfour and Holland will replace inactive pitchers Bartolo Colon of the A’s and Hisashi Iwakuma of the Seattle Mariners. Tillman replaces Detroit Tigers ace Justin Verlander, who pitched Sunday.

McCann replaces inactive first baseman Freddie Freeman (jammed left thumb), also of the Braves. Melancon and Romo replace inactive pitchers Jeff Locke of the Pirates and Jordan Zimmermann of the Washington Nationals for the National League team.

—The Atlanta Braves activated versatile rookie Evan Gattis from the 15-day disabled list and placed outfielder B.J. Upton on the DL.

Gattis has been out since June 18 with a right oblique strain.

B.J. Upton left Friday’s game against the Reds with a hip injury.

Outfielder Justin Upton, first basemen Freeman and outfielder Jason Heyward are also out.

—The Philadelphia Phillies placed outfielder Ben Revere on the 15-day disabled list, one day after he broke his right foot.

He will be further examined Monday to determine the extent of the break and how much time he will need to recover.

The Phillies activated catcher Erik Kratz from the DL to take Revere’s spot on the roster.

—The Cleveland Indians announced that they activated right-handed pitcher Blake Wood from the 60-day disabled list and optioned him to Class AAA Columbus and outrighted catcher Omir Santos to Columbus.

Wood, 27, has been out the entire season after having right elbow surgery.

Santos, 32, appeared in just one game for Cleveland this year, going 0-for-1.
