The San Francisco Giants placed backup third baseman Joaquin Arias on the disabled list after having an emergency appendectomy on Sunday night, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The club recalled infielder Nick Noonan from Class AAA Fresno.
Arias will miss at least 15 days. He was batting .282 with no home runs and 10 RBI in 110 at-bats.
Noonan is batting .212 in 85 at-bats with the Giants.
