San Francisco is the new favorite to host Super Bowl L after the Miami Dolphins were unable to secure public financing to renovate Sun Life Stadium.
Owners are scheduled to vote on Tuesday.
The Bay Area’s host committee will make a presentation at the NFL Spring Meeting in Boston in which it looks to showcase the 49ers’ new Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, which opens in 2014.
Super Bowl L is in February 2016.
NFL.com reported Monday that the presentation will emphasize the technological innovation of the new stadium, including it being the first ticketless and cashless building in the league and fans will be able to control their stadium experience with their smartphones.
The league is trying to keep fans coming to games by providing some of the comforts of home.
The presentation plans to highlight how environmentally-friendly the $1.2 billion stadium will be, including being solar-powered during games.
It will also look to convince the committee that: the financial windfall of the Super Bowl will put money back into the community; the Bay Area as a region will benefit from having the game; and, will provide various transportation systems to get people to the stadium and throughout the Bay Area.
The Super Bowl has not been played in California for a decade.
