
Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday, following the death of his grandmother.
Altuve is hitting .333 with a .371 on-base percentage in 38 games this season, will be away from the team for three to seven days.
The team recalled infielder Jacob Elmore from Triple-A Oklahoma City to replace Altuve on the roster. The 25-year-old was batting .300 with two home runs and eight stolen bases in 36 games.
