Broncos name Heckert personnel director

Former Cleveland Browns and Philadelphia Eagles general manager Tom Heckert was hired as the Denver Broncos’ director of pro personnel.

Heckert replaces Keith Kidd, who did not have his contract renewed by the Broncos. He has worked with many NFL notables, including Don Shula, Jimmy Johnson, Mike Holmgren and Andy Reid.

“With more than 20 years’ experience in the NFL, Tom brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and insight to our personnel department,” said executive vice president of football operations John Elway. “He has worked in several different capacities for multiple teams, and his diverse background in talent evaluation will be a strong resource for the Broncos.”

Heckert served as general manager of the Eagles from 2006-2009 before being hired in the same role by the Browns in 2010.

Heckert was relieved of his duties with the Browns at the end of last season during an ownership and management overhaul.
