Chicago White Sox right-hander Jake Peavy was scratched from his scheduled start against the Texas Rangers because of back spasms. Left-hander Hector Santiago will start Thursday’s game at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Gavin Floyd was placed on the disabled list last week and left-hander John Danks might miss months recovering from 2012 shoulder surgery.
Peavy went 3-1 and had a 3.38 ERA with 39 strikeouts (six walks) in 32 innings in April.
