Cleveland Indians outfielder Michael Bourn will be sidelined for about a week after suffering a laceration on his right index finger, MLB.com reported Sunday.
Bourn was injured when he slid head-first into first base to avoid colliding with White Sox reliever Matt Thornton. But Thornton accidentally stepped on Bourn’s finger with his cleat during the play.
Bourn had five stitches taken in his hand and can’t play until those stitches are removed in 5-7 days.
He is hitting 333 with seven extra-base hits this season.
