The San Francisco 49ers have been looking for a back to quarterback Colin Kaepernick since trading Alex Smith to Kansas City, and they may have acquired that backup on Monday.

The 49ers obtained Colt McCoy from the Cleveland Browns in exchange for an undisclosed late-round draft choice, CBSSports.com reported Monday.

McCoy seemed to be the odd man out in Cleveland, where Jason Campbell and Brandon Weeden are expected to compete for the starting job.

McCoy started 13 games for the Browns in 2011, but he played in just three games in 2012, completing 9 of 17 passes.
