The Dallas Cowboys are close to signing former Detroit Lions linebacker Justin Durant and former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Will Allen, NFL.com reported Wednesday.
To bring in the two players, the Cowboys will have to restructure salaries to clear the necessary cap space. In addition, the team will cut a player as well to free up money for Durant and Allen, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. One of the players mentioned as a candidate to be jettisoned is Lawrence Vickers.
Durant indicated his impending departure from Detroit on Twitter. “Shout out to Detroit man I wanna thank y’all for the luv and support y’all showed me the past couple years I really appreciate it.”
Durant is coming off a 103-tackle season in his second year with the Lions. Before coming to Detroit, Durant spent four years with Jacksonville.
Allen, a 10-year veteran, played for the Steelers the past three seasons and started seven games in 2012.
