Placekicker Giorgio Tavecchio was signed by the Green Bay Packers, who could bring in even more competition for incumbent Mason Crosby before training camp.
Tavecchio played at California and was originally signed by the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted rookie last May. He was released after seeing action in three preseason games.
Crosby struggled in 2012, making just 63.6 percent (21 of 33) field-goal attempts during the regular season. That came after setting an NFL record with 649 points through his first five seasons.
