Outfielder Matt Diaz, who was released by the New York Yankees recently, signed a minor-league contract with the Miami Marlins, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reported.
Diaz will have a shot at making the Opening Day roster with the Marins.
He went 6-for-20 with no extra-base hits in the spring.
Diaz, 35, hit .222 with two homers for the Atlanta Braves last year.
