Dumervil could return to Denver

Free agent defensive end Elvis Dumervil could be back with the Denver Broncos by the end of the week.

Dumervil became a free agent as a result of a mixup on Friday that prevented him from formally accepting a pay cut and re-signing with the Denver Broncos by the deadline. Dumervil has since fired his agent and he replaced him with well-known veteran representative Tom Condon.

The Steelers, Patriots and Ravens reportedly contacted Dumervil to gauge his interest, but Dumervil’s “priority” remains re-signing with the Broncos.

If a deal cannot be worked out with the Broncos, there should be interest in the pass-rushing right defensive end. The Steelers need a pass rusher after parting ways with James Harrison, but they have cap restriction that may make it difficult to sign Dumervil. New England has entertained several veterans and the Ravens are looking at a large-scale remodel of their Super Bowl-winning defense.
