Texas Rangers right-hander Kyle McClellan had a setback in coming back from shoulder soreness, according to ESPN Dallas.
McClellan, who is competing for the Rangers’ No. 5 spot in the rotation, was shut down on Sunday before he could finish warm-ups. He had been out for a week.
“I’d be lying if I said I’m not frustrated,” McClellan said. “I think it is something we thought would possibly happen. I felt great a week and a half ago, and I reached that point where I was stretched out. Everybody seems to think once we get (the muscle) built back up I should be in the clear. So we’re just waiting to see what happens.”
McClellan believes his injury is only minor and affects one of his muscles.
He pitched in just 16 games for the St. Louis Cardinals last season before having shoulder surgery.
