The Philadelphia Phillies officially announced the signing of veteran reliever Mike Adams to a two-year, $12 million deal.
The pact includes a third year club/vesting option worth $6.5 million. It vests if he appears in 120 games from 2013-14 with at least 60 appearances in 2014.
The 34-year-old has been one of the game’s best setup men. He posted a 3.27 ERA in 52 1/3 innings with the Texas Rangers last season.
