The Arizona Diamondbacks continued to shore up their bullpen, trading for left-handed reliever Matt Reynolds from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for third baseman Ryan Wheeler.

The deal comes a month after acquiring closer Heath Bell in a trade with the Miami Marlins.

Reynolds, 28, has pitched the past three seasons for the Rockies, appearing in 144 games the past two seasons combined. Last season he had a 4.40 ERA with 51 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings.

Wheeler, 24, was called up in July and hit .239 with one homer and 10 RBIs in 109 at-bats. The infielder has quickly moved up from Double-A in 2011 (.294) to Triple-A (.351) last season to the majors.
