Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller and defensive lineman Kevin Vickerson reportedly were fined a total of $36,000 for separate hits on Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton last Sunday.
Miller was fined $21,000 hitting Newton low on a roughing-the-passer penalty, the Denver Post reported Thursday. Vickerson was fined $15,000 for his horse-collar penalty while sacking Newton.
Miller said he will appeal his fine. Vickerson has not said if he will appeal.
“How am I supposed to know if he threw the ball or not?” Miller told the Post. “I was down on the ground — actually the guard facemasked me and threw me into the quarterback. I’m supposed to what? Stand straight up and continue with the tackle?”
